Today, Israel announced the commencement of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The halt in hostilities was made possible after Hamas provided a list of the first hostages to be released on Sunday, January 19.
This information was reported by The Times of Israel.
Israel stated that the ceasefire will take effect at 11:15 after Hamas submitted a list of three hostages that are scheduled to be released today.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces reported that they continued to strike Hamas terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip over the past two hours.
Initially, it was planned that the first phase of the ceasefire in the Middle East would begin today at 8:30. However, it was postponed due to Hamas's delay in providing the names of the first three female hostages.
Recall that on the evening of January 16, media reported that Israel and Hamas finalized all amendments and signed a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip in Qatar.
In turn, Netanyahu's office claimed that Hamas withdrew from some points in the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, creating a last-minute crisis.
Subsequently, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that negotiating teams in Doha signed an agreement on the ceasefire and the release of hostages, but the country's government would not be able to discuss and approve it until Saturday evening.
