On Wednesday, February 5, a new prisoner exchange with Russia took place. Ukraine returned 150 servicemen from Russian captivity.

According to the president, all the fighters came from different fronts, but they share one thing in common: they fought for Ukraine.

“We are bringing back 150 of our defenders from Russian captivity. These are soldiers, sergeants, officers. Warriors of the Navy who were captured in Mariupol and the Zaporizhzhia region, Air Force personnel, soldiers from the Assault Troops and Ground Forces, National Guardsmen, border guards, territorial defense forces, as well as a police officer,” he wrote.

Zelensky added that some of the warriors had been in captivity for over two years.

“And today is a day for them and their families that weighs more than years of waiting. It is true happiness to see them at home, alive, and free,” the president noted.

The exchange was facilitated with the support of the UAE.

Recall that on January 15, Ukraine conducted the first prisoner exchange of 2025 with Russia. Another 25 Ukrainians returned home. The previous exchange with Russia took place on December 30, 2024.
