Ukraine will receive €1.5 billion monthly from the European Union throughout 2025 as part of financial assistance.
This was announced by the President of the European Council, António Costa, on December 1 during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Costa, the EU will allocate an additional €4.2 billion to Ukraine this month to support the budget. Starting in January, Ukraine will receive €1.5 billion in aid each month for the entire year. These funds will come from frozen Russian assets, which means they can be used for military purposes.
“We want to tell Ukrainians that we have supported you since the beginning of this aggressive war, and you can continue to rely on us. Regarding energy, we will contribute to repairing existing generating capacities as much as we can,” added the President of the European Council.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that around €1 billion from the income generated by frozen Russian assets will go towards supporting Ukraine's defense industry.
On November 28, the World Bank approved additional funding of $664 million for the INSPIRE project, which will continue to support social payments to the most vulnerable populations.
