The head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, commented on rumors about his potential dismissal that emerged in the media this week.
He shared his response in a statement to BBC Ukraine.
According to Budanov, these rumors are unrelated to actual plans. The GUR head assured that he maintains normal, working relationships with President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team.
"Another leak, not the first one," Budanov commented.
It should be noted that this week, NV reported that the President's Office plans to dismiss Kyrylo Budanov. Allegedly, this personnel decision is being "lobbied by the head of the OP, Andriy Yermak, and the deputy head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad." Supposedly, they intended to appoint Poklad in Budanov's place.
Recall that Kyrylo Budanov was appointed as head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense in August 2020. He is one of the few leaders of security agencies who has held the position for such an extended period.
At the same time, rumors about his dismissal have periodically surfaced in the media.
