Шольц прибыл в Киев для переговоров с Зеленским: последние новости и детали встречи.

On Monday, December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kyiv for the first time in two and a half years to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The politicians plan to discuss several important issues, including the delivery of weapons to Ukraine worth 650 million euros by the end of the year.

Currently, information regarding the topics to be discussed has not been disclosed. This was reported by the dpa news agency.

Olaf Scholz announced the delivery of weapons to Kyiv valued at 650 million euros, which could occur by the end of this year.

"During my meeting with President Zelensky, I will announce further arms deliveries amounting to 650 million euros, which are to be delivered by the end of December," said the German Chancellor.

It is worth noting that Olaf Scholz's visit to Kyiv was not announced anywhere.

Media speculate that Olaf Scholz decided to hold talks with Volodymyr Zelensky against the backdrop of a political crisis in Germany.

Additionally, a possible topic for discussion will be concerns that Europe may have to take on more responsibilities following Trump's election as President of the United States.

As is known, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed in November, leading to snap elections scheduled for February 23, 2025. According to polls, the CDU/CSU is supported by about 34% of the population, placing it in the top position in terms of popularity and giving Merz a real chance to become the next chancellor.

As for Scholz, his popularity continues to decline, and polls show he has little chance of winning. Moreover, he is not even the most popular politician in his party. The most popular figure in the SPD is Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who, however, refused to participate in the elections on November 22 and endorsed Scholz's candidacy.

It is worth recalling that this is Scholz's first visit to Kyiv in the last two and a half years. The last time German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Kyiv was in the summer of 2022 along with French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

"Telegraph" previously reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz explained why he opposes the transfer of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Furthermore, he criticized politicians who would like to see this happen.
