Ukrainian developments in drone manufacturing are ongoing, as the front lines require both eyes and work with machine guns. One of the reconnaissance drones is the PD-2, which is aircraft-type.

It is produced by "Ukrspetsystems." According to the manufacturer, the PD-2 is a drone resistant to radio interference thanks to its encrypted connection and dual data transmission channels. This feature has been noted by soldiers from the separate battalion of unmanned systems of the Ukrainian Navy, although they also point out a drawback. "The aircraft is very resistant to electronic warfare systems. The only significant downside it has is its vulnerability to air defense systems, as it has a thermal signature," states a video by "ArmyInform." This shortcoming is attributed to the PD-2's gasoline engine. Coordination with other units that provide warnings about missile launches helps to protect the reconnaissance drone.

In total, the PD-2 has conducted over 200 sorties, identifying multiple targets. The largest, according to the drone operator, was "the 'Yastreb' air defense system with a radar station from very long distances away (referring to the 'Yastreb-AV' counter-battery radar)." Many multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) were spotted and, of course, adjusted alongside conventional 'Buk' and 'Tor' systems.

This drone can complete a mission autonomously, even if the signal is lost, operating in automatic mode. The PD-2 is equipped with an optical station featuring both day and thermal imaging channels.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that Ukrainian forces conducted the first battle exclusively using robot capabilities. Operators controlled them from a safe distance.
