The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, possesses undeclared assets worth 45 million euros. The château is registered under the name of the Prime Minister’s father, as the official income of the head of government does not allow for such luxury.
This was reported by Akos Hadhazi, a member of the Hungarian National Assembly. Later, Hadhazi confirmed this information in a video for the French television channel France 2.
This is not the first time Hadhazi has disclosed information about the luxurious castle of the Hungarian Prime Minister. He traveled to Hatvan with a French film crew to show where the Prime Minister's castle is located.
According to official data, Prime Minister Orbán and his wife have 14,000 euros in their bank account and own two houses. The only person officially residing in the former Austro-Hungarian castle is Orbán's father.
The castle was purchased for 15 million euros, and an additional 30 million euros was spent on its restoration. According to the French journalist, none of this is mentioned in the Orbáns' statements, and it remains unclear who carried out the restoration work.
"It’s not a big deal if the French also learn what lies behind Viktor Orbán's propaganda speeches. He is the most corrupt politician in Europe, who has to lie more and more repeatedly because he has already stolen so much," believes Hadhazi.
It is also worth noting that recently, Hungary claimed that Ukraine allegedly started a "slander campaign" against their Prime Minister Orbán. The aim is to undermine the international reputation of the "politician" and weaken Hungary's ability to defend its interests. As noted by the ruling party in Hungary, "Fidesz," this was supposedly reported by Hungarian intelligence at a National Security Committee meeting.
This version might have been believable if Orbán's castle had been filmed by Ukrainians rather than the French. Moreover, Mr. Hadhazi's investigation and France 2's report emerged before the accusations from "Fidesz."
According to the Hungarian independent legislator, Orbán's complex of buildings in Hatvan is a "mini-Versailles," which can be used not only for family but also for political purposes. Back in 2023, the Hungarian Democratic Coalition initiated a declaration of property for Viktor Orbán, claiming that the Prime Minister "uses a castle not listed in his property declaration for work meetings." However, the parliament rejected the initiative at that time.
The photos below were taken back in 2023 during yet another renovation of the palace.
Such investigations only emphasize that the contradictions between the government’s practices and the personal lifestyle of Hungary's Prime Minister are increasingly becoming a topic for European politicians, believes Akos Hadhazi.
If the Hungarian Prime Minister "hid" his mini-Versailles worth 45 million euros behind his father, then the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Altai, according to investigators, will formally become a structure of "Gazprom." Both buildings impress with their grandeur—regarding the Altai residence, it is a complex of buildings with a helipad, spa center, and its own infrastructure, with a total value estimated in many millions of dollars.
It is noteworthy that both politicians, who love to talk about "traditional values" and criticize "Western luxury," themselves live in conditions that exceed the most extravagant manifestations of luxury life. Meanwhile, both Orbán and Putin officially declare a rather modest wealth.

Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has taken a unique position regarding Ukraine and the war, which has been noted as a pan-European issue. He opposes military support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, claiming that these harm the European economy. Orbán has repeatedly blocked other initiatives to assist Ukraine and has criticized the Ukrainian language concerning national minorities, particularly regarding the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia.
Orbán has developed quite close relations with Vladimir Putin. The Hungarian Prime Minister has met with the Russian President. Orbán often describes his policy as "pragmatic," emphasizing the importance of maintaining economic ties with Russia, especially in the energy sector.
Orbán's support for Donald Trump is based on the similarities in their political views and approaches. Both politicians share anti-liberal views, a skeptical attitude towards traditional democratic institutions, and oppose globalization. Orbán sees Trump as a potential ally who can change U.S. policy towards Ukraine and weaken transatlantic unity in support of Ukraine. Additionally, both politicians are critical of immigration policies and advocate for "traditional values."
Previously, "Telegraph" reported that Orbán stated what role Ukraine plays currently.
