What are the consequences for those who fail to appear at the military enlistment office without a valid reason?

Russia continues its war against Ukraine, with martial law and general mobilization still in effect. There are only a few valid reasons for not reporting to the military enlistment office after receiving a summons, and penalties are in place for those who fail to show up without just cause.

On the Facebook page of the Chernihiv Regional Military Enlistment Center, they explained which reasons for not appearing at the enlistment office are considered valid. They are quite limited.

"These can include: natural disaster, military actions in the relevant area and their consequences, or other circumstances that prevent the individual (who received the summons) from personally arriving at the specified location and time, as well as the death or serious illness of a close relative", – the message states.

It's important to know that the presence of such reasons must be documented. The conscript must personally report to the military enlistment office within three days from the date indicated in the summons and verbally or in writing communicate the valid reasons for their absence, along with providing the necessary documents.

The military enlistment office reminded that there are current penalties for unjustified failure to report to the recruitment center. According to Ukrainian law, such an administrative offense is punishable by a fine ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 non-taxable minimums.

"Considering that the non-taxable minimum is 17 hryvnias, the fine amounts to between 17,000 and 25,500 hryvnias", – the military enlistment office clarified.

If an individual continues to evade conscription, they will face criminal liability. Such actions fall under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which prescribes imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that reforms for the Military Medical Commission are being prepared in Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense announced a series of changes.
